Where can I see a cardiologist in Djibouti?
Peltier and Al Rahma also have a cardiac catheterisation unit, to examine and treat the heart’s arteries. Heart surgery is done at the department that opened in 2026 at Djibouti’s Military Hospital. Outside the capital, Tadjourah regional hospital has a cardiology service.

Where can I get an ECG or a heart ultrasound?
ECGs and heart ultrasounds are done in the cardiology departments at Peltier and Cheiko; the ultrasound costs 5,000 DJF at the public fee. In the city centre, SOM Clinique on Rue d’Athènes (+253 21 33 50 15) does both from 7 am to 11 pm. CNSS members can also have them at Arta regional hospital.
Chest pain: when should I call 119?
Don’t wait for an appointment: call 119 (SMUR, free, 24/7) or go to the emergency department at Peltier Hospital (+253 21 35 09 62) if you have any of these.
- Sudden pain or tightness in the chest that doesn’t go away.
- Pain that spreads to the arm, back, neck or jaw.
- Chest pain with sweating, nausea or breathlessness.
How do I get a cardiology appointment?
At a public hospital, book at reception, and bring past ECGs, ultrasound reports and a list of your medicines. Medyc books partner specialists for you, in the app or on WhatsApp at +253 77 04 12 12.
To go through a result or follow up on treatment, a video consultation with a doctor starts at 3,000 DJF, and a doctor’s home visit at 5,000 DJF. The team tells you before the visit whether an ECG is possible.

How much does a cardiologist cost in Djibouti?
3,000 DJF at a public hospital (2017 fee). Private clinics set their own fees and must display them at the entrance. Through Medyc, an in-person consultation with a partner doctor starts at 6,000 DJF.
Do I need a referral to see a cardiologist?
Not in the private sector: Al Shifa Hospital, for example, books most specialties without a referral. At the CNSS, the doctor at your care centre refers you to the Specialised Care Centre.
Can I have an ECG at home in Djibouti?
Ask when you book a doctor’s home visit: the team tells you beforehand whether the machine can come. Otherwise, SOM Clinique in the city centre does ECGs from 7 am to 11 pm.
