At night and on Fridays, go to Peltier’s children’s emergency department, or the emergency departments at Cheiko, Al Rahma or Clinique Le Héron. In the evening, Clinique Affi’s paediatrician sees children until 9 pm, except on Fridays.

My child has a fever: what should I do?
In Djibouti, a child with a fever gets a malaria test the same day: malaria circulates all year round, including in the capital. The test is done at a hospital, clinic or laboratory. Never give malaria treatment without a prescription.

Call 119 (SMUR, free, 24/7) or go to Peltier’s children’s emergency department in these cases, and whenever your child seems seriously unwell.
- They are struggling to breathe.
- You can hardly wake them.
- They have a seizure.
- They are under 3 months old with a temperature of 38 °C or more.
Can a doctor see my child at home?
Yes: in Djibouti City, Medyc arranges a home visit by a doctor or a nurse from 5,000 DJF, and a video consultation from 3,000 DJF. Give your child’s age and the reason, and the team confirms who will come. It also books doctors and specialists at partner facilities, in the app or on WhatsApp.

3,000 DJF at a public hospital (2017 fee). Private clinics quote roughly 5,000 to 12,000 DJF depending on the clinic, so ask when you call.
Is there a paediatrician on call at night in Djibouti?
Peltier General Hospital’s children’s emergency department is open 24/7. In Balbala, Cheiko and Al Rahma hospitals have 24/7 emergency departments. If your child is very unwell, call 119.
Is there an English-speaking paediatrician in Djibouti?
Clinique Affi’s staff speak French and English, and its paediatrician sees children Saturday to Thursday, 4 to 9 pm. Confirm the language when you call.
