How much is a consultation, public or private?
Public prices come from the 2017 fee schedule: ask reception for today’s fee. AMU and PASS card holders are covered at Ministry of Health facilities.

How much does a private doctor cost?
Private care has no official fee. Under Decree 2024-219, every private facility must post its fees at the entrance: read the notice, or call before you go.
Say whether you need a GP or a specialist, and ask what the price includes: follow-up visit, lab tests, imaging. An AMU card only works there if the clinic has a CNSS agreement.

What gets added to the bill?
Lab tests, imaging and medicines are paid on top. If the doctor orders several tests, ask which are urgent and where they cost least.

Video, home visit or clinic: which one?
Price matters, but the situation decides:
- Emergency
- Call 119 or go to A&E, whatever the price.
- Prescription renewal, test results, a question about treatment
- Video is often enough.
- Older, bedridden or no car
- A home visit saves the trip and the wait.
- Full examination, specialist, regular follow-up
- A clinic appointment.
- AMU or PASS card and a tight budget
- The public health centre.

In Djibouti City, Medyc arranges a doctor or nurse at home from 5,000 DJF, a doctor by video from 3,000 DJF and an appointment with a partner doctor from 6,000 DJF. You get the exact price before the appointment.

Are the 2017 public fees still in use?
The 2017 decree is the latest fee schedule published in the Official Journal. A facility may charge an updated fee, so ask at reception before the consultation.
Does the AMU card cover a consultation?
Yes at Ministry of Health facilities. In private care, only if the clinic has an agreement with the CNSS: ask when you book.
How much is an online doctor consultation in Djibouti?
With Medyc, a video consultation with a doctor starts at 3,000 DJF. You get the exact price before the appointment.
Why does the emergency department cost more?
Public emergency care is a 6,000 DJF flat fee, twice the health centre price. In a real emergency, do not let the price stop you.
