2017 public tariff, in Ministry of Health facilities (CHU hospitals, health centres). Private laboratories set their own prices and must display them: ask for the total before the sample is taken.

How much does a blood test cost in Djibouti?
In public facilities, 1,000 DJF for a full blood count, glucose or cholesterol test, and 3,000 DJF for TSH or CRP (2017 tariff). In a private laboratory, ask for the total price before the sample is taken.
Do I need to fast before a blood test?
For a fasting glucose test, yes: 8 hours with nothing but water. For a lipid profile, 9 to 12 hours are often required. A full blood count, TSH or CRP needs no fasting.
When do I get my results?
Ask when the sample is taken, and how you will receive them: in person, by message or by email. Specialised tests take longer, especially when they are sent abroad.
Can I choose my laboratory?
Yes: you are free to choose your laboratory, whichever doctor prescribed the tests. CNSS member? Ask before the sample is taken whether the laboratory has a CNSS agreement.
Do I need a prescription for a lab test?
Most tests are done on a doctor’s prescription. Call the laboratory to ask whether it accepts your request without one.
